Position: Director of Estimating  

Compensation: $100,000 – $120,000 per year + bonus opportunities 
Location: Remote  
Schedule: Monday – Friday, full-time 

About the Role 

Colony Roofers is seeking an experienced Director of Estimating to lead and grow our Estimating Department. This role is responsible for overseeing the estimating team, ensuring accurate and competitive bids, and helping secure profitable projects that support the company’s revenue and growth goals. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with deep knowledge of commercial roofing systems and strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. 

Director of Estimating Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead, train, and mentor the Estimating team to ensure high performance and professional development 

  • Assign, review, and approve project bids to ensure accuracy, profitability, and compliance with company standards 

  • Oversee workload distribution and ensure all deadlines are met 

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide coaching, and manage team accountability 

  • Ensure estimating procedures, take-offs, and cost allocations are consistent and precise 

  • Review bid accuracy, track project outcomes, and recommend process improvements 

  • Partner with leadership (COO, Operations, Project Managers) to ensure projects are delivered as bid 

  • Maintain strong relationships with customers, architects, vendors, and subcontractors 

  • Identify new business opportunities and support the Sales team with bid strategy 

  • Represent the Estimating Department in operational meetings as needed 

What We’re Looking For in a Director of Estimating  

  • Minimum 10 years in the roofing industry (sales, technical, or field) OR 5+ years in estimating leadership 

  • Strong commercial roofing knowledge, including systems, codes, and applications 

  • Proficiency with computer-assisted take-off methods, bid reporting, and estimating software 

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.) 

  • Strong math, analytical, and organizational abilities 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and committed to team and company success 

Physical Requirements 

  • Primarily office/remote-based work with extended computer use
